It may not even occur to hardened skiiers to visit the Alps during the summer, but the resort of Les Houches, just down the valley from Chamonix, offers so much - from swimming in lakes and yomping around some of Europe's finest landscape shots to biking and climbing. Those of you not so inclined to sweat on your holidays can always eat very well and hoover up some of Savoie's finest wines in some of Chamonix-Mont Blanc's excellent restaurants.
